Fate can be cruel.
A standalone novel. If you've read the Threads of Magic series, this book is a centuries ahead prequel that also stands alone.

Alexius has been ignored for centuries. He’s quietly taken the blame for his sister’s death and simply tries to get by unnoticed, until his heart won’t let him ignore his mate. Will she bring him closer to his family or pull him away?

Aexie is trying to figure out why she’s turned into a raging, angry dragon that can’t express what she wants to while not letting her anxiety control her.

Jaxon fights to decide how best to keep the family together or if he should just give up and travel the world.

Xerus is learning to navigate the ancient love of his life and run the kingdom he’s been brought up to rule.

As siblings grow up, their duties to themselves clash with their responsibilities to their family and realm. Mysterious attacks force them to put the kingdom first and work together. They need to figure out who the culprit is before their entire realm falls.

Will they come together or will they abandon their duties and watch their kingdom fall to evil?

TOP 5 FAVORITE BOOK

I can’t pick five singular books, so I hope it’s alright that I picked top five series.
  • Song of the Lioness quartet – by Tamora Pierce
  • Anything by Sarah J. Maas
  • Fablehaven Series – Brandon Mull
  • The Green Rider series – Kristen Britain
  • Strange the Dreamer duology by Laini Taylor

Bonus: The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer

Song of the Lioness is the series that is closest and dearest to my heart. It’s what made me fall in love with reading and books and fantasy. There are even a few callbacks to it in my own books. I’m actually afraid to read it as an adult for fear that it won’t live up to that special place it took when I read it as a teenager.

I know I’m not alone in loving all that Sarah J. Maas has written. I love the fantasy world she creates and the relationships between her characters. It’s such a fun ride.

I read the Fablehaven series so fast – all five books in a week, that I don’t remember where one ends and the next begins. I LOVED and would be living in a magical animal sanctuary if that was possible!

The Green Rider series was introduced to me by a fellow horse girl and I love the world she’s created and the intricate stories she tells within each book. I believe she was a park ranger at one time and I can feel the forest in her books. It’s beautiful and when I read an 800pgs book in 48hrs, it’s got to make my favorites list!

Strange the Dreamer is another that comes to mind because of how incredibly unique it is. When I read it, the setting was so different that it really stuck with me. The way magic is incorporated into those stories is super fascinating to me as well.

Bonus book/series! The Lunar Chronicles stand out to me when I search my memory banks mostly because I had recently watched Firefly and there was such a parallel to it. I loved how she centered each book around a new character as the story also unfolded for the team too.
